Join us for an artist talk with Carl D'Alvia in the Benenson Visitors Center where he will discuss his practice and speak on his work Lith, currently on view in the Fields Sculpture Park. Following the talk, we will walk out to the piece in The Fields and enjoy some refreshments with the artist!

In this workshop, we will become well-practiced in the habit active noticing. The normal and seemingly mundane things in our environment will become the subjects for extraordinary prose. We will step away from our desks, our writerly solitude, and with a journal in hand we will collect the details of the day by wandering, watching, gathering, communicating, moving, playing, and eavesdropping. In our journals we might scribble, glue torn newspaper, tape gum wrappers, or press flowers. We will perform wild experiments; arranging and collaging and collaborating to generate imaginative writing that engages, extends, and defies the "rules" of various genres including poems, short stories, plays, letters, comics, questions, and more!
