How to Apply:
Submit your application to Music Omi by accessing our online form here.
You will be asked for a short bio (of no more than 175 words) and for a narrative answering the following questions:
a. Why do you want to attend Music Omi? [one paragraph]
b. What is your primary role as a sound-maker (for example, are you mostly a singer, instrumental performer, composer, sound artist, a combination)? [one sentence]
c. What instrument(s), if any, will you bring with you to play at Music Omi? (Note: pianos are provided, but other instruments—with the exception of drums—must be brought to the residency.) Answer this question even if you are primarily a composer. [one sentence]
d. What are you submitting for your work sample? Please indicate the date(s) of the sample; if you are the composer, performer, or both; and whether the music is composed, improvised, or some combination. [one paragraph]
e. What is your country of origin (and your current country of residence if different)? [one sentence]
f. How did you hear about Music Omi? [one sentence]
After you provide the requested information, you will also upload a work sample of no longer than four-minutes, submitted as an mp3 mp4, m4a or wav file (no larger than 40MB total). Your work sample may include excerpts of up to three works. You may prepare your mp3 using any software you like, such as ProTools, Digital Performer or Audacity (available for free, online, here).
Once you have prepared your four-minute audio work sample, be sure to save it as an mp3, mp4, m4a or wav file. If reviewing your work requires video, you may submit a mov file instead of submitting a sound file (also no longer than four minutes, and also containing excerpts from up to three performances). Please only send a video file if your work cannot be reviewed with only an audio file.
